A Training Unit was established in the College during 1979-80 with the sole objective of organizing short term refresher courses on various aspects of agricultural engineering. The training courses are organized mainly for the functionaries of the State Govt. Departments, Corporations & semi Government Organisations. However, some training courses are organized for the farm machinery manufacturers, village youth, progressive farmers as well as for foreign students. The trainings are organized in collaboration with all the departments of the College on the topics such as advanced farm machinery, water saving techniques, water recharging, value addition of crops, post harvest technologies, Non-conventional energy devices, Information technology in agriculture, entrepreneurship in agricultural mechanization, sprinkler and drip irrigation etc. The Training Unit staff in collaboration with the faculty from various departments also publishes training manuals regarding various training programmes from time to time. It has written ten manuals on the topics such as repair & maintenance of farm electric motors, construction, adjustment and maintenance of combine harvesters, efficient and safe use of power threshers, harvesting & threshing machinery, farm equipments and tools, improved farm equipments for selected farm machinery and improved farm equipment for efficient farm water management, engineering technologies for crop production & environment and Non-conventional energy resources. Two faculty members, one Associate Professor as Incharge and one Assistant Professor are looking the different activities of the unit.
