Dr Gursahib Singh Manes did his PhD in (Farm Power and Machinery) from PAU Ludhiana. He joined PAU in September, 1992 as Assistant. Engineer and was promoted to Research Engineer in March, 2002 and then to Senior Research Engineer in January, 2009. Now he is working as Additional Director of Research (Farm Mechanisation & Bio-energy). He was Head Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering from September, 2012 to November, 2016 He has handled 11 schemes/projects as PI/CO-PI and has developed/evaluated/popularized 30 technologies/machines, out of which 21 technologies have been recommended by PAU. He has published 71 research papers in international and national research journals, one review paper, one NAAS policy paper, one book, one e-course, one teaching manual, 46 extension articles, 12 extension bulletins, four success stories, filed three patents and has tested 132 commercial agricultural machines. He has taught UG and PG courses and has guided 20 UG and four PG students as major advisor, 38 PG students as member of advisory committee. He has delivered 165 extension lectures, 43 invited lectures, and eighteen TV/radio/phone talks. He has regular interaction with industry for development and manufacturing of quality agricultural machinery. He also visited Moscow State Agro Engineering University, Moscow, Russia, under Faculty Exchange Program in October, 2010. He has received ISAE Commendation Medal-2014 in recognition of his valuable contributions in the field of farm machinery and power engineering, Appreciation Certificate-2016 from PAU for outstanding contributions in the development of agricultural machinery, Two times Dr G S Khush Team Award-2017 and 2019 for Excellence in Transfer of Technology to the farmers, ISAE Team Award-2018 for Super Straw Management System (SMS) –an innovative solution for in-situ management of paddy residue in rice wheat system . He is life member of ISAE, ISTE and IE(I) and also remained Associate Editor of Journal of Agricultural Engineering. He also served as Chairman of Punjab Chapter of ISAE and during his tenure the chapter was awarded the Best Chapter Award. Presently he is also serving as President of Alumni Association of College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, PAU Ludhiana.
