Positions held: Assistant Extension Engineer, PAU Ludhiana (1995-2005), Extension Engineer (2005-2011), Principal Extension Scientist (2011-till date)

Field of Specialization: Processing and Food Engineering

Research Interests:

  1. Processing of spice crops
  2. Establishment of agro processing complexes
  3. Primary processing of food grains

Research Projects:

  1. Optimization of process parameters for primary and secondary processing of commonly grown pulses in Punjab (UGC funded adhoc project, PI)
  2. Establishment of agro processing centre for food grains and spices (Project on secondary agriculture- ICAR funded adhoc project, CoPI)
  3. Business Planning and Sustainability: A Study of FPOs in Punjab (Project from NABARD, CoPI)
  4. Technology application and upscaling for sustaining natural resources and augmenting farm income: Farmers led market-linked approach (Adhoc project from ICAR, Co-PI)
  5. Development of technology for production, farm-level processing and optimization of processes for value-added products of millets (Funded by Society for Mission Tandrust Punjab, CoPI)

  1. A Forced circulation solar dryer was approved in the 243rd meeting of REC and a MOU was signed with M/S Vishawkarma Engineering for its commercial production.
  2. Solar curing system for kharif onion’ approved in 276th meeting of REC on 21-01-2020 vide Endst. No. PBG/2020/2800-2870 dated 12-2-2020.
  3. Conferred with “JAE (Journal of Agricultural Engineering) best paper award” by ISAE for the paper “Effect of natural ageing of basmati paddy on physic-chemical and textural properties of cooked rice” for the year 2011.
  4. Master Trainer in Grain Processing in the PMFME scheme by completing training on grain processing organized by CFTRI Mysore during 2020.
