KVK HOSHIARPUR HOLDS AWARENESS CAMP ON NATURAL FARMING AT VILLAGE HARIPUR

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Hoshiarpur, organized an awareness camp on natural farming in collaboration with the Innovative Farmers Association (Regd.) at village Haripur on November 17, 2023. The event drew the participation of proactive farmers dedicated to natural farming practices, emphasizing its significance in contemporary agricultural landscapes.

Dr Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training) at KVK Hoshiarpur, stressed the urgency of adopting natural farming and highlighted the KVK's ongoing endeavours to promote this method, utilizing project-based initiatives such as awareness camps, training sessions, and practical demonstrations across the district. Dr Bons also commended the Innovative Farmers Association for their commitment to advancing this sustainable farming approach.

Dr Ajaib Singh, Assistant Professor in Agricultural Engineering, shed light on the value addition and processing of agricultural produce, particularly highlighting the preparation of quality gur and shakkar. Dr Prabhjot Kaur, Assistant Professor in Plant Protection, shared invaluable insights into pest management strategies aligned with natural farming principles.

Sh Narinder Singh, President of the Innovative Farmers Association, outlined the association's activities and highlighted the collaborative support from the district administration, the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, and KVK Hoshiarpur. He emphasized avenues for marketing natural farmers' produce through platforms like ATMA Kisan Hut, the weekly Safe Food Mandi at Roshan Ground, Hoshiarpur, and various camps and melas.

The event provided a platform for the district's progressive natural and organic farmers to share their expertise. Sh Narinder Singh from village Ajjowal, Sh Tasrem Singh from village Neela Naloya, Sh Bakhshish Singh & Sh Budh Singh from village Haripur, among others, engaged in discussions, sharing key practices and experiences related to natural farming.
