7-DAY TRAINING PROGRAMME ON PRECISION AGRICULTURE BEGINS AT PAU

A seven-day training programme on “Precision Agriculture Technology including Greenhouses Management” kick-started in the Department of Soil and Water Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), under the aegis of the National Committee on Precision Agriculture and Horticulture (NCPAH), New Delhi. Farmers from Punjab and other states are attending the training programme which is being conducted by the Precision Farming Development Centre (PFDC), Ludhiana.

The chief guest Dr Parvender Sheoran, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana, highlighted the role of precision agricultural technologies in enhancing productivity. He urged the farmers to seize an opportunity to learn and implement precision agricultural technologies, highlighting their potential to revolutionize farming practices and boost yields sustainably.

The guest of honour Dr Manjeet Singh, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, PAU, threw light on the importance of precision agricultural technologies and need to adopt it for agricultural sustainability .

Dr JP Singh, Head, Department of Soil Engineering and Technology, welcomed the participants, and gave an overview of the PFDC and training programme.

Dr Jugraj Singh, Principal Scientist, Department of Soil and Water Engineering, coordinated the programme; and Dr Nilesh Biwalkar, Principal Investigator (PFDC), proposed a vote of thanks.
