AFTER 47 YEARS, PAU MUSEUM PLACED ON PUNJAB TOURISM MAP

The collective efforts of Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjeev Arora and PAU Vice Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal has brought the Museum of Social History of Punjab at PAU on tourism website.

"It is a moment of great honour to see The Museum of Social History of Rural Punjab at PAU being placed on the tourism map of the state after 47 years", shared PAU Vice Chancellor Dr SS Gosal, at a special event here today.

A documentary depicting the unique Museum directed by eminent Nature Artist Harpreet Sandhu in collaboration with Punjab Agricultural University was released by Member Parliament Rajya Sabha Shri Sanjeev Arora and Vice Chancellor Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal. The Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister Punjab, Shri Bhagwant Mann and Tourism & Cultural Affairs Minister Punjab, Shri Anmol Gagan Maan for acknowledging the PAU Museum as a tourist attraction.

The event was attended by prominent personalities from Ludhiana including Padma Shri Dr. Surjit Patar, Commissioner of Police Ludhiana Dr. Kaustabh Sharma, IPS, Addl. Commissioner Municipal Ludhiana Dr. Rishipal Singh, IAS, Addl. Police Commissioner Ludhiana Dr. Narinder Bhargav, IPS, Mr. Rupinder Singh, PPS Director Police Academy Phillaur, Mr. Amarinder Malhi, PCS Addl. Administrator GLADA and Addl. Deputy Commissioner , Ludhiana, Dr. Shammi Kapoor (Registrar PAU), and Dr. Mrs. Sandeep Bains (Dean College of Community Science).

Member Parliament Rajya Sabha, Shri Sanjeev Arora while releasing the documentary film called it an impressive work, showcasing the significance of the Museum of Social History of Punjab, brought to life by the efforts of Shri Sandhu. " I am confident that the documentary film will definitely promote the importance of Punjab’s rich cultural heritage within the community especially amongst the younger generation, " Shri Arora said.

Dr Gosal, while applauding the new recognition to the museum, called it a welcome move that will offer a view into rural life of Punjab from bygone era, leaving one with nostalgic feeling of the glorious past. He further urged everyone to see the documentary depicting the rural heritage of Punjab.

Eminent Poet Dr. Surjit Patar, Chairman Punjab Arts Council described the Museum of Social History Of Rural Punjab as one of the greatest asset for people of Ludhiana as it encapsulates the rich rural history of Punjab, he also acknowledged the dedicated efforts of Harpreet Sandhu towards portraying this magnificent museum among people of Ludhiana through his documentary.

Shri Harpreet Sandhu particularly thanked Sh. Tejveer Singh, IAS Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism & Cultural Affairs Govt. of Punjab and Sh. Karnesh Sharma, IAS Director Tourism Punjab for their sincere cooperation towards marking the PAU Museum as a Punjab Tourism Location.
