Marking World Heritage Day today, as many as 194 students of PM Shri KV No.1 Amritsar Cantt. and 99 students of Guru Nanak Public School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana, visited the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today to celebrate the glorious cultural heritage of Punjab. Accompanied by their teachers, the students visited the Museum of Rural Life of Punjab, and Museum of Soil and Water Resources at PAU, wherein they were shown and apprised of the 18th century social, economic, religious and agricultural landscape of Punjab with emphasis on kitchen utensils, traditional attires and jewelries, agricultural implements, the then and present status of water resources, soil health deterioration and maintenance, etc.
The visits were held under the guidance of Dr TS Riar, Additional Director Communication, who informed that schools in large number from Punjab and other states were visiting PAU to learn agriculture and see museums which were unmatched and unique in their ownselves.
Mr Varinder Singh, Communication Centre, welcomed the delegations and coordinated the visits to both the museums. He also explained the role of PAU in agricultural and cultural development of Punjab. |
