PAU MOURNS SAD DEMISE OF SENIOR JOURNALIST SARABJIT PANDHER

At a condolence meeting held by the Department of Agricultural Journalism, Languages and Culture, faculty and staff members expressed their grief over the sad demise of senior journalist, a renowned photographer and former President of Chandigarh Press Club, Mr. Sarabjit Pandher.

He was an alumnus of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. He belonged to the 1986 batch of Master of Journalism and Mass Communication, a degree programme offered by the Department of Agricultural Journalism, Languages and Culture.

Vice Chancellor, Dr Satbir Singh Gosal while expressing deep grief said, “Mr Pander’s journey from PAU to the President Press Club Chandigarh is a testament to his dedication, intellect and passion for the field of journalism. He exemplified the values of our University through his achievements and unwavering commitment to excellence.”

Mr. Pandher was 58 years old and is survived by his father, Sardar Gurdev Singh Pandher, and two daughters.

While working for The Hindu, he wrote extensively on issues concerning Punjab's economy and farmers' issues opposing WTO policies. After taking voluntary retirement from The Hindu, he joined Daily Post as Editor in Chief. Apart from being a remarkable journalist, he also stood up like a true leader for the community of journalists.

The senior faculty of the Department recalled the cherished memories of Mr Pandher while has was a student of the Department. His loss will be deeply felt by the entire community of PAU. The faculty and staff of the Department observed a minute of silence as a mark of respect for the departed soul.
