PAU  STAGES SUCCESSFUL RENDITION OF  THE PLAY 'MAIN JALLIANWALA BAGH BOLDA'

Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) showcased its rich cultural tapestry with a stirring portrayal of the play 'Main Jallianwala Bagh Bolda' on May 9th, 2024, garnering accolades from a diverse audience comprising over a thousand students, scientists, and employees.

Under the patronage of the Kesho Ram Sharma Memorial Society and Directorate of Extension Education, PAU, the production unfolded with remarkable finesse, shedding light on the tragic events of Jallianwala Bagh. Penned by playwright Dr Anil Sharma, the performance resonated deeply, drawing attention to historical wounds still felt today.

Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice Chancellor of PAU, graced the occasion as the chief guest, commending the university's commitment to fostering artistic expression among its students. In his address, Dr Gosal emphasized the importance of cultural exchange among educational institutions, underscoring the role of plays as mirrors reflecting societal narratives. He lauded the students' stellar performances, noting their prowess rivaled that of seasoned artists, and pledged continued support for such endeavours.

Special guest Prof Gurbhajan Gill, former president of Punjabi Sahitya Academy, hailed PAU's prominent position in literature and cultural activities. He expressed confidence in the students' potential to further elevate the university's stature in the cultural arena, following the resounding success of 'Main Jallianwala Bagh Bolda'.

Highlighting the significance of such initiatives in holistic student development, Dr Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education at PAU, underscored the role of awareness campaigns conducted by the university. He emphasized the importance of plays in shaping students' personalities, citing their involvement in various societal issues beyond the stage.

The production, featuring approximately 70 students and scientists from different colleges of the university, showcased the talents of budding performers including Jaswant Singh, Lakshay Sharma, Jeevanjot Jatana, and many others. The event concluded with thanks extended by Colonel Jasjit Singh Gill, with stage management handled by student Karan Kapur.
