The present College of Agriculture, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana The College of Agriculture is one of the four constituent colleges of Punjab Agricultural University. This College had its roots in the Punjab Agricultural College and Research institute, Lyallpur (now Faisalabad, Pakistan). In 1963, the College of Agriculture had five departments (Departments of Agronomy, Extension Education, Horticulture, Plant Breeding and Soils) and now there are ten departments viz., Agronomy, Agromet and Forestry & Natural Resources, Extension Education, Horticulture, Plant Breeding, Soils, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Floriculture & Landscaping, Food Science & Technology,  and Vegetable crops.

The College of Agriculture imparts resident instructions in  the different disciplines of agriculture for developing human resources in agriculture. Besides, it lays thrust on carrying out research in agriculture and allied fields and disseminating the research findings among the farmers of the Punjab state for providing the security of sustainable livelihood to them. It has produced more than 5300 graduates, thereby contributing significantly towards the development of human resources in agriculture and allied fields. The college received the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Award in 1977 in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the field of agriculture. The Alumni of the College have earned distinctions and are occupying top level positions in National and International R & D establishments and other areas of public service.
