Professional Experience:

  • Working as Scientist (Nanotechnology) in Electron Microscopy and Nanoscience Lab Punjab Agriculture University from March 2014 to till date.
  • Worked as Assistant Professor at Dr. B. R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar from 1st Jan 2014 to 15th march 2015.
  • Worked as Research Associate in project titled “Nano- technology for enhanced utilization of native phosphorus by plants and higher moisture retentions in arid soils” at Electron Microscopy and Nanoscience lab, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana from 27/07/2012 to 31st Dec 2013.
  • Worked as Physics Lecturer in Khalsa College for Women,Civil Lines,Ludhiana from 22nd July 2011 to 31st March 2013.
  • Worked as Teaching Assistant for Physics Lab teaching at Post Graduate and Under Graduate level at Department of Physics, Panjab University, Chandigarh from 1st jan 2009 to 31st Dec 2010.
  • Worked as Project Assistant in a project titled “Project Title “Design and Development of Head Up Display System for HJT-36 & AJT (SSP-31)” sponsored by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited at Central Scientific Instruments Organistion, Sector-30-C, Chandigarh from 22nd Dec 2004 to 22nd sep 2006.

Research Interests:

  • Synthesis, functionalisation and characterization of nanomaterials and their hybrid for water management and applications of agricultural importance.
  • Recycling of Agricultural waste for preparing smart materials
  • Structural tailoring of Carbon based Nanomatereial by High Energy ion beams.
  • Simulation and Modelling of nanoscale based systems.

Research Experience

  • Worked as Research Associate in National Agriculture Innovative Project (NAIP) entitled “Nano- technology for enhanced utilization of native phosphorus by plants and higher moisture retentions in arid soils” at Electron Microscopy and Nanoscience lab (EMNL) Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana and learned techniques for synthesis of nanoscale based fertilisers.
  • Performed Ion irradiation Experiments on Carbon Nanotubes in an energy range 55 MeV to 120 MeV at “Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), New Delhi” using 15 UD Pelletron Accelerator.
  • Worked at “Bimolecular Electronics and Nanotechnology Division (BEND), Central Scientific Instruments Organization, Chandigarh” for learning techniques related to Synthesis, functionalisation and thin film production of Carbon based nanomaterials.
  • Working knowledge of High Resolution Imaging and Spectroscopy Apparatus like “Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), SEM - Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS), Raman Spectrometer, Fourier Transform Infrared Microscope (FTIR).

Research Accomplishments

  • Published 21 research papers in refereed Journals, 6 international book chapters and 3 review articles in reputed journals. Presented numerous papers in national and international conferences. Delivered numerous lectures as resource person in trainings, symposiums and webinars.
  • Published one Patent titledZinc in clay-mineral receptacles in nanoforms for their use as advance materials including novel fertilizer”, Indian Patent No. 354498 (granted) Application No. 2093/DEL/2013A.
  • Currently working in one research project titled “Addressing Food Security Through Nutritionally Enriched Improved Cultivars and Technologies for Swasth Bharat” funded by DST (PURSE).
  • Handled two research projects funded by Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) Under Nanotechnology Platform as Co-PI.
  • One of my paper entitled “Damaged carbon nanotubes get healed by ion irradiation” Journal of Applied Physics 108, 034302 appeared as research highlights of Nature India doi:10.1038/nindia.2010.120; Published online 31 August 2010.
  • Delivered numerous invited lectures to International and National delegates.
