Dr Kuldeep Singh is working on sugarcane agronomy since 1998. He has worked on the development of improved sugarcane production technologies, increasing irrigation water productivity of sugarcane based cropping systems and enhancing per unit productivity from sugarcane intercropping systems. Based on his work, 22 recommendations on production technologies for sugarcane have been included in the state package of practices. He is involved in evaluation of agronomy of 12 sugarcane varieties, one chickpea and one rice variety recommended for cultivation in the state. He was also involved in recommending production technology for Sugarbeet. Besides, he has published 117 research publications out of which 52 are in refereed journals and 65 are in proceedings of different seminar/symposium, one book chapter, one extension folder and 38 extension articles. He has handled 2 research projects as PI/Co-PI. He has been visting scientist at University of Queensland, Australia from 1^st February to 30^th April, 2011. He has guided 2 PG students as Major Advisor. Under his guidance as PI, PAU Faridkot sugarcane centre was awarded “Excellent Performance Certificate (2017 and 2019)" by Project Coordinator AICRP (S), IISR, Lucknow. He is a recipient many awards and honours which include “SIR T.S. Venkatraman Award” by M/s Eco Foundation, USA for outstanding research in sugarcane agriculture for the biennium 2012-2013, “Best Outstation Scientist Award 2012-13” by PAU, Ludhiana, “Appreciation Letter” from PAU, Ludhiana for developing intercropping and chiseling methods in sugarcane, “SSRP- Lifetime Contribution Award- 2022” by Society of Sugar Research and Promotion (SSRP) for outstanding contribution in sugarcane crop production in 2022 and “Most cited paper award (2022)” by Society for Sugarcane Research and Development, Coimbatore for the paper ‘Effects of sub soiling on sugarcane productivity and soil properties’ published in Journal of Sugarcane Research.
